I have to admit the last two games against the Lakers has been like a stiff jab to the stomach. I've been asking all season long for the Suns to hit the second, third, sixth, or seventh seed spot in the west solely so they could avoid having to play the Lakers until the western conference finals. I knew the Suns would have problems with the Lakers size and comparable speed. Now we're here, having received everything I could have ever wished for, my devious plan executed to perfection, and I'm disappointed with my Phoenix Suns.
What kind of an ungrateful fan am I?

In truth, I'm not. It's hard when you see the end of the horizon approaching on such an amazing season. Certainly, I'm not giving up on the series with the Lakers, I'm just admitting that I'm getting exactly what I asked for: A tough opponent that I knew we'd probably lose to if push came to shove. Simply because we just don't match up well against them. In the play-offs, it's all about match-ups. Look at San Antonio and Dallas. Dallas was the better team, but the Spurs matched up well against them and used it to their winning advantage. I thought we matched up well against anyone in the conference, save for the Lakers. Now it looks like I had good reason to be scared.
Aside from putting on the Los Suns jerseys, how can the Suns make this series competitive? Every pundits got an opinion. And the consensus seems to go with my post first game comments: Offense is fine, defense is a problem. Now that I've seen game two and am jonesing for game three, I say screw all that!
If we're going to go down, I want to go down swinging! I want Channing Frye to do better than 1 for 13 from behind the three point line. I was pleased (not surprised mind you) when Dudley went 5 for 5 behind the three point line. Now I want to see him go 6 for 6.
I want it all! And if the Lakers are going to outscore us anyway, score a 130 so they have to score 140.
Who's with me?
Don't let the crickets drown you all out like that. I'm not seriously suggesting we regress to the old ways where defense was verboten. That never got us anything but frustration. I think I'm suggesting we just give it everything we've got as fans, because the Suns have given us a year to remember. Win or lose against the Lakers, this has been a winning season, and it will go down as one of my favorites.
I'm ready to see what the Suns can do for game three.
