The Suns used to have a center - blessedly here no more - who became a target of many fouls because he couldn't shoot from the line. And as a result - his lack of free throw aim changed the compexion of many a game for the worse. The strategy earned its own moniker and Hack-A-Shaq went into basketball lexicon.

Well the struggling New Orleans Hornets apparently didn't get the memo and may not have realized that the Big Cactus isn't with the Suns anymore. So when they sought to crimp Amar'e Stoudemire's style on Sunday evening by hitting him with a blizzard of fouls they found that - Yes Virginia - this year's edition of the Suns knows how to hit from the charity stripe.

Amar'e perfection from the free throw line (14-14) was not his only contribution to this confidence building 120 - 106 Suns victory over New Orleans. Stoudemire also stung their defense virtually at will as he went 11-17 from the field and snagged 12 rebounds -nine of those on the defensive end of the court.

And all that while Amar'e played less than 32 out of 48 minutes of game time.

The Suns foul shooting lesson wasn't limited to just Amar'e.

While he led the in foul shooting, scoring and boards - STAT wasn't the only Phoenix player spanking those offending foulers from New Orleans. From the foul line we also had Earl Clark knocking down 4-4, Jared Dudley going 3-4, Grant Hill hitting 2-2, and Steve Nash swishing his only free throw.

It all added up to the Suns going 28-35 from the line - scoring 13 more free throw points than New Orleans hit. That's not bad for a game that we won by 14 points.

Jared Dudley's three steals deserve an honrary mention as well - along with Channing Frye's two klepto grabs.

See ya'.
