It's time to strap it on and get ready to rumble with our Phoenix Suns facing down the NBA's glamour boys - the LA Lakers.
The Friday game is set for a 9pm West Coast start - and the hardwood showdown will set the tone for the rest of the regular season as the Suns work toward what seems to be a certain play-off run.While the Lakers reputation proceeds them - and they can never be taken lightly - the big time oddsmakers in Vegas are approaching the game with a lot of caution and that is a good sign for all Suns fandom.
The early line Thursday evening has the Lakers favored by just a point.
Yes - the big money guys in gambling central are betting Phoenix can go neck and neck with Kobe and Company - something that would have been unthinkable last season.
In addition, the oddsmakers are looking for 212.5 points in the over/under bet for the game. That type of high-flying game - with a lot of scoring - would normally favor the Suns and their high scoring potential.

The turning point for those looking at this match-up came back on Dec.28th when the Suns pounded the Lakers and won a big 118 - 103 upset victory. Since then the Suns have won 20 of their last 33 games. More importantly - starting with a Jan. 28th victory against the Dallas Mavericks - the Suns are now on an incredible run.
The type of run that can take them to the - dare we say it - a championship.
The streak that started in late January - has seen Phoneix blaze a trail by going 14 - 4 since tangling with Dallas. Those are numbers that rival the best in the NBA and has elevated the Suns to the Number 6 spot in the Western Conference.
What's made them such a force to be reckoned with after a dismal January that threatened to leave them out of the play-offs again this year??
The responsibility belongs on the shoulders of an impressive 3-point shooting game that is hot to the touch.
Yep - third degree burrrrning hot hot hot hot - if you know what we mean?!?
Indeed - by knocking down 40.5% of their long range buckets and hitting 48.9% of their shots overall - the Suns offense has become a multi-headed hydra that gives opposing defenses fits. The kind of fits that can bring down champions. Catch the hint???
