Just quit your whining - put the pedal to the metal and hear that big engine roar! You know what we mean and - yes - it feels good!
We've never been a true fan of all that nasty talk about the Big D that flooded the airwaves in the hot days of summer training camp. Sure - defense is an important part of pro basketball - but it isn't what puts the kids in the cheap seats and there's nothing wrong with a little B-Ball gunslinging. So the Suns pre-season record setting 143 - 127 victory over the Sacramento Kings was a heartwarming reminder that the guys can still get down to business and kick it into high gear in an Indy 500-style race for points.
It was a little unsettling when the Kings eeked-out a one point lead as the first half ended (68 - 67). But at the 7:00 mark of the third quarter, the Suns shifted into fifth gear for good and the game was transformed. By the 5:07 mark our guys were up 99 - 91 and the Suns kept hitting their stride all the way to the end.

The Suns closed out the third quarter with a 10 - 3 run showing a determination to put the game away but the Kings pushed back scoring 6 points in the first two minutes of the fourth quarter. However compared to the Suns' pace all the Kings had it were fumes - they never quite had the traction needed to come from behind. As long as the Suns kept pouring on the scoring, there was no catching them.
The stats are stunning and the impact is clear. Channing Frye led the crew with 29 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Amar'e Stoudemire - our Hall of Fame pick in waiting - demonstrated dominance with 27 points and 6 rebounds - four on the defensive end. And Jason Richardson hit only a few buckets but he grabbed 10 rebounds - an incredible number for a guard. And let's not forget that seven of those were defensive boards.
Closing out, we have to say a few words about Goran Dragic - possibly the Suns' most complex character. A player with some real potential, Dragic usually saves his quality minutes for games against uncertain European afterthoughts. But this time he hit 21 points in 26 minutes of play.
That's enough to silence this Internet yapper until - well - at least tomorrow.
See ya'.
