As we approach the eve of another season - and celebrate the dreaded LA Lakers going down to defeat last night - we're going to take a quick look at how our first www.sunsstufft.com poll went. And boy are you people a bunch of happy optimists.

Remember - last year the Suns managed 46 victories despite Amar'e being out for crucial end of season games and Shaquille O'Neal clogging-up the works on offense. The lion's share of poll respondents - 62.4% - expect the Suns to improve significantly by winning 50 - 55 games in the 2009-10 season. That's more than a few winning streaks and could push Phoenix to the Number 5 spot in the Western Conference during the regular season. Talk about having a sweet start going into the play-offs.

The next cluster of responses - 19% - just aren't that far in the happy zone. No - they may have had some Kool Aid - but there wasn't much grain alcohol in the sauce. So, while they are looking for some progress, they see the Suns winning just 45 - 50 games and struggling to grab a decent play-off spot or any play-off position at all.

Than there's the almost 13% who are stone cold committed to the Suns - and maybe even write some of their PR. You never know, do you??

This merry band sees Phoenix challenging the Lakers for dominance and the top spot in the West by winning 55 - 60 games in the regular season. (Hopefully they're staying away from those tricky controlled substances.)

And then we have one - yes, we're serious - one response saying that the Suns will barely win 40 games or less. A real crash and burn scenario.

We'll bring you more over the weekend, but thought you might want to know a little bit about the company you are traveling with. Oh - by the way - thanks for getting us up to nearly 1,200 hits since we started www.sunsstufft.com four weeks ago. Keep on coming - things will only get better.

See ya'.
