Everyone should have recovered from the trauma caused by big Robin Lopez's broken foot - does it really matter that we aren't going to have him on the active roster 'til maybe Christmas? But, while it is terribly early in the pre-season, there is some actual bad news emerging in the Western Conference that should satisfy the appetite of the most pessimistic among us. (Even the one voter in our Suns poll who says the team will pull down less than 40 wins this season)

Our tale of woe is the story of a rival - For, yea, we have seen you Evil and thy name is Jazz.

It started with their 16-point victory over the Denver Nuggets won 103 - 87 by a Jazz team that grabbed an impressive 44 rebounds. Two Jazz players (Deron Williams & C.J. Miles) showed themselves to be in prime form scoring 16 points each. And Carlos Boozer, a favorite of us here, added to the win by hitting 7 points and grabbing 7 rebounds.

The Jazz complimented that impressive showing with a strong come from behind 53-point second half scoring rush that almost carried the day against the Chicago Bulls. The Jazz, who were down by 7 points at the end of the first-half, only lost due to a last minute buzzer beater hit by the Bulls' James Johnson.

Yes the Jazz, our cross desert rivals, are no longer in the tailspin that led to their giving-up 7 of their final 10 games in closing-out last season. It's not conclusive but as the pre-season moves forward, it is looking like a tougher uphill climb to take out the Jazz and snatch their play-off spot.

So tonight's game with Belgrade - with Channing Frye's test run at center - comes at a critical time. Can he mesh well with our version of the big three; Steve Nash, Grant Hill and Amar'e Stoudemire?

That's the big question and we need an answer.
