Anybody miss us?!? Please say you did.

Yes, we are sorry to have departed from the information super highway for a day but it was necessary. And, frankly, we are now in a very cranky mood. It's all Alvin Gentry's fault.

You see, the coach of our intrepid Phoenix Suns seems to be stuck on Dan Dickau and we are mystified. Dickau has been in the NBA since finishing up from Gonzaga and being drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in 2002. He has never shown any real spark on the pro court regardless of where he was playing, including the nine - count'em - nine big minutes he spent playing against Partizan Belgrade. The lack of scoring didn't result from a string of bricks shot from the field or bum free throws. No, our boy Dan never took a shot. With the exception of three assists, he was a statistical waste land.

Let's be blunt, the lack of point production is not a new phenomenon for Dickau, a 31-year old journeyman. No, it didn't start a couple of days ago. Unlike Channing Frye - another Portland Trailblazer import to don a Suns uniform this year - Dickau averages 5.8 points per outing and has spent virtually no time in double digits since part of the 2004-05 season.

Clearly the Suns are planning to put more bodies on the court to avoid wearing-out our old timers (37-year old Grant Hill and 35-year old Steve Nash). "Our goal has to be that we have enough confidence in those guys (the Suns second unit) that we don't have Steve (Nash) and those guys trying to to finish games with 11 1/2 minutes to go," Gentry said. "We've got to have those guys (the Suns first unit) finishing at six minutes where they are fresh and ready... It's really tough to play 12 hard minutes."

A great take on what needs to be done but that doesn't mean we should be leaning on veterans who don't have much promise. That's an on-the-nose description of Dan Dickau and it's time for Gentry to reconsider his role.

Isn't their an opening with Partizan Belgrade? The change in climate might not be bad for our boy Dan.
