It was about 146 minutes of entertainment and fun followed by four - yes count'em - 4 minutes of bad stuff. Oh my - how the mojo went sour so fast.

Yep - with just 4:10 minutes left in the Suns game in New Orleans - our man Amar'e Stoudemire nailed a 2-pointer and our guys were tied with the Hornets at 94 all. It should have been the beginning of a big time comeback run but New Orleans shrugged it off and came back with two free throws.

Then at 3:05, Jason Richardson knocked down a two from close range - but then it all fell apart.

First, their Stojakavic hit a 3-pointer and the home crowd came alive. Then J-Rich chucked-up a miss. It wasn't an airball but it wasn't good. Nope - nada. Then the Hornets rookie sub guard Darren Collison - you know the guy we wish the Suns had - blew it up with his own long bomb three. That put it at 102 - 96 with 2:06 to go.

Then we collapsed and the Suns ended on the short end of a 110 - 103 score.

Hmmm - you say - it sounds like New Orleans pulled a Suns-style move against us. Yes - they did an us to us.

But let's wring some good news out of this evening's action.

Amar'e hit a stunning 8 - 12 from the field and also knocked down 70% of his foul shots from the line to lead the Suns with 23 points. Jared Dudley proved himself a shooting phenom from outside as he hit 5 - 6 from 3-point range for 17 points. Channing Frye added his own spark with 10 rebounds.

There was a solid performance from Steve Nash and Grant Hill had his moments but the good news stops there. And now for the other side of the coin.

Channing Frye would have been better off shooting blindfolded.

In case you missed it, Frye's shooting pushed down the Suns scoring like an overgrown paperweight holding down some important stuff. He made just 4 - 15 from the field, including a series of disjointed threes that were missed during the first half. His long distance shooting was so bad that only one of his 7 three pointers was a bucket.

Maybe he had his eyes closed that time.

Frye's blizzard of missed 3-pointers dragged the Suns scoring down so badly that our guys hit only 39.3% of their long range shots - much lower than the 52% hit by New Orleans. But if you take his numbers out of the stats - just delete Frye from the equation - the Suns would have been at nearly 50% from beyond the arc.

The numbers tell the tale, maybe starting Dudley would have been the way to go against the Hornets. What do you think Coach Gentry?? Give it a shot one of these days.

See ya'.
