Well happy f-bomb to you dear readers.
Mark it on your calendars. The defensive kings of the NBA have fallen - and they were taken out by our Suns.
Yes, the formerly undefeated Boston Celtics were embarassed on their home court as the Suns showed that they deserve the 5 - 1 record that has put them in a tie for the top of the Western Conference. Talk about your Fun City-style play. O-Ya'.
And much of the credit for the win should go to Coach Alvin Gentry - a leader who has shown an ability to blend the Suns strengths on the court. He knows how to move his players around, mix his line-ups and play the hot hand when the time is right. (For example, Grant Hill in the early games and Jason Richardson last night)
Pushing all the buttons that so many doubted he could grasp this season, J-Rich had the hot hand and nailed 34 points while going 6 - 7 from behind the three point line. Steve Nash added to the 3-point festival by hitting 3 - 6 of his own from beyond beyond the arc and racking-up 16 points to go with his 12 assists.
Our man Amar'e Stoudemire showed his own brand of firepower near the rim with 22 points as he hit 8 - 13 from the field and was a perfect 6 - 6 from the free point line.
But the individual numbers don't capture the full impact of the Suns sledgehammer-style 3-point game.

Going into the game Boston had allowed their opponents only 25% from beyond the 3-point line - the best defense in the entire NBA against those pesky long range shots. But the Suns broke the curve - they busted it like the smart kid with all the A's who sat in the front row during freshman chemistry. What a flasback, eh?
And the Suns did it by knocking home the long ball to the tune of 13 for 24 from far away (54.2%). The Suns also blew Boston away from the free throw line by hitting 23 for the night (76.7%) compared to Boston's mere 9 (50%). Just tip your hat to Stoudemire and Hill for being perfect from the line and give them a hearty thanks while you're at it.
We'll be back with a closer look later today - we still have to recover from last night's victory party.
See ya'.
