Yes - what an excellent way to wake-up from that Thanksgiving snooze!!!!!
Sure, we don't know why those Vegas oddsmakers had our Suns as just 9.5 point favorites against the hapless Minnesota Timberwolves and it was easy pickings for those who wandered through the sports books to plunk their money down. Imagine - the team with the best win/ loss record in the NBA just barely eeking out a double digit victory against the worst team in the league. It doesn't sound plausible and - as Friday night proved - it wasn't.
Instead - the Suns romped to a 120-95 victory in Minnesota - and hopefully a few Phoenix partisans grabbed their winnings and ran.
Along with being a profitable spin on the wheel - the Suns victory was fun to watch. They were in good form - and they were blocking shots like beasts. The blocks were so plentiful - a big 8 rejections in all - that it's hard to pick a favorite but we'd put Jason Richardson's first half swat on the top of the list. J-Rich also led all Suns scorers with 22 points - he hit 77% from two-point range in less than 24 minutes on the court.

That's right - the often maligned J-Rich knocked down nearly a point per minute and was dead-on magic from two-point range. He also showed team leadership as he passed for five assists in what could easily be his best game of this still young season.
Regular readers know we recently urged the Suns to reignite Grant Hill's offensive jets (http://www.sunsstufft.com/2009-articles/november/keeping-our-eyes-on-the-prize-a-feed-the-ball-grant.html) and - at the risk of jeopardizing an inflated ego - Friday's game meant Coach Alvin Gentry might be listening to us as the wiley 37-year old veteran nailed down 10 points in the first quarter. That's nearly one-third of the Suns 32 point total in the first 12 minutes.
After going 5-for-5 from the field in the first quarter - Grant slowed down a bit - but he was still the Suns second highest scorer for the night with 17 points in 26:04 minutes on the court. He hit both of his 3-point shots and also 77% of all his buckets from the field.
And in a display that would brighten even the darkest clouds - the Suns rookie phenom Earl Clark - proved his scoring talent by racking-up 14 points in just 12:41 playing time. Talk about a display of prowess that proves his worth as part of the Suns high-flying arsenal.
So now it's time to gear-up for an early Sunday game against the pesky Toronto Raptors. We'll be putting-up another post on Saturday evening.
See ya'.
