The entire reach of Suns fandom from sea to shining sea needs to send some warm thoughts to Amar'e Stoudemire - and we don't mean with flowers and chocolates wrapped in bows. No - nothing sentimental - just the kind of psychic vibes that will help him rev-up the engines for Sunday's game against Toronto.
Played across the border in the land of our northern neighbors - this game comes as both franchises are reaching to be seen as something better than also rans. The Suns have proved their potential so far with an eye catching 8-2 record that far exceeds the expectations of most readers here - no kidding - and makes them several notches better than the Raptors 5-4. But Toronto has won their last two and this is a home game for them.
Also Chris Bosh has been a scoring beast for the Raptors with an average of 28 points per game this season. While he's been absent from behind the 3-point line, Bosh has successfully played further away from the basket than most NBA forwards do while hitting nearly 50% from the field.
That's why we need Amar'e to be in the right frame of mind.

Sure - we all know - that Stoudemire's 2 buckets in 15 attempts against the Lakers on Thursday was a dismal display of JV-style shooting skills. On more than one occasion in that game Amar'e missed a shot - only to grab his own rebound and miss again. And these airballs were taken from up close to the hoop. But he is still hitting better than 18ppg and grabbing nearly 8 rebounds a game.
And - despite hitting less than 15% of his shots last time out - Stoudemire's shooting percentage from the field remains better than Bosh's this season(52% vs. 49.7%). And he hit a stunning 80% from the field against New Orleans on Veterans Day while scoring 21 points - proving that he can add balance to an arsenal including Channing Frye's outside 3-pointers, Steve Nash's passing magic and Grant Hill's persistent rebounding.
Mark our words here dear read - so far this season - Amar'e Stoudemire has had only one really bad game. He even hit nearly 50% of his shots from the field and led the Suns with 25 points in their worst defeat of the year - a 122-100 loss at the hands of the Orlando Magic on Nov. 4. If we just send the right vibe to STAT he will dominate the offensive end of the court down in the paint for the Suns.
And he can play tough enough on defense that Chris Bosh won't be able to stick with his game. But we have to believe.
Just a final note to everyone who has spent some of their happy time at www.sunsstufft.com. This weekend we pushed past the 2,800 hit mark - an accomplishment we didn't expect to achieve until Pearl Harbor Day (Dec.7th). The audience growth and the determination of friends to stay the course is extremely gratifying. Thanks for stopping by.
See ya'.
